How to Navigate Using the Stars — Interactive Guidebook & Working Planisphere
This project reimagines a traditional “how-to” guide as a tactile, story-driven experience. Designed as a folding booklet shaped like a ship’s bow, the piece opens to reveal a fully functional rotating planisphere tucked inside. The guide uses simple steps, celestial diagrams, and atmospheric illustration to teach readers how to orient themselves using the night sky.
The planisphere itself becomes the final tool of navigation—allowing the user to align constellations to the date and time, mirroring real star-finding methods used by early sailors. Blending whimsical storytelling with precise technical design, this project turns a basic instructional pamphlet into an interactive artifact that feels both educational and enchanted.
